BLOWFLY OAK FLIGHT

In 2004 we selected five distinct hogshead barrels and aged our Blowfly merlot separately in these barrels for 15 months. The result of this experiment so intrigued us that we decided to release the wines as a limited edition 6 bottle case.

DM

DM is our reserve wine, incorporating select fruit only from outstanding vintages. The 2005 DM is comprised entirely of petit verdot which developed exceptional characters after yield was heavily reduced due to extreme weather. This wine exhibits an extraordinarily rich mid-palate with intense dried fruit characters, notes of leather and cedar, and gravelly tannins.

MAELSTROM

In 2005 the vineyard was severely damaged in a freak hailstorm and then 4 weeks later by an F2 tornado. This Maelstrom was made from the resulting tiny yield, using semi-dried merlot grapes in a style inspired by the reciotos of northern Italy. Complex, rich Christmas cake characters with a soft, dry finish.
